Compared with healthy people, patients suffering from hepatitis B have increased oxidative stress levels and impaired liver function. The effects of hydrogen rich water were evaluated in 60 patients suffering from chronic hepatitis B. Patients were divided into two groups. Both of them received the standard treatment for hepatitis cure. In addition, one group was administered with ordinary water and the other with hydrogen water (1200 to 1800 ml a day) for 6 weeks.
After treatment, oxidative stress levels did not change in the ordinary water group but they improved significantly in the group receiving hydrogen water. The liver function improved significantly and DNA hepatitis virus was also reduced in both treatment groups.
